What We Do
Garageland – What We Do
We do more than people think..
The Garage Gigs
Garageland started way back in August 2000, with a handful of Garage Gigs in a venue called Eamon Dorans – the idea was to re-ignite the live music scene in Dublin, as it had almost disappeared altogether, with Boybands & Girlbands ruling the airwaves. Hot Press Magazine and IMRO supported us from the very start. We had an immediate impact.
Early Garageland artists included Delorentos, The Immediate (Villagers), Ham Sandwich, The Script, and 21 Demands (Kodaline). To date there have been almost 2,000 Garage Gigs all over Ireland and the UK, creating opportunities for thousands and thousands of artists. Our most recent Breakthrough acts are Inhaler (currently touring all over Europe), The Felonies, Niamh Crowther, but like we said, it’s not about that.

We have rules and guidelines – but, as they say, nothing scary.
INDY City with City of Dublin Youth Service Board – Working alongside City of Dublin Youth Service Board, this Dublin City Centre Youth Music Festival was launched in 2018 to great success. Over 30 acts performed across 3 stages in Dublin’s Meeting House Square in a dizzying day of fun. The acts consisted of young musicians from Dublin projects and clubs alongside Garageland artists, and the whole day was headlined by stellar performance from Picturehouse and Christy Dignam. Hosted by Dave Browne and Paul Walsh (Royseven).

The Irish Youth Music Awards –Designed and created by Garageland’s Dermot Lambert in 2007, The Irish Youth Music Awards was a unique national project which incorporated live music events alongside educational and creative workshops for young people aged 12 – 19. To make this a great success across 8 years intil 2014, Garageland brought in the heavy hitters of the Irish music industry including IMRO, Hot Press Magazine, EMI Records, IRMA, RAAP, as well as top industry personnel Will Ryan (Hozier, The Coronas), Willie Kavanagh, Liza Geddes (Friction PR), Jim Lawless (Coronas, Fangclub), Pete Holidai (Radiators). Jackie Hayden from Hot Press (also the man who discovered U2), helped design the project, and it still runs to this day.
