Formed in 2014 in Cork, Ireland, The Alkove blend rock, pop, blues, and soul to create truly original music.
The band has released three Eps, one single, and one album – available on iTunes/Spotify/GooglePlay/Souncloud/gigs.
Now Or Never (EP)
This Ain’t Me (EP) + “This Ain’t Me” (single)
Backdoor Blues (EP)
The band also released the title track from “This Ain’t Me” , with an accompanying video, to fantastic reviews. Irelands National broadcaster RTE selected the song to close out their Hurling League Final TV program in spring 2016.
The band has toured extensively, playing venues such as Kavanaghs in Portlaoise, Monroes of Galway, Courtney’s in Killarney, The Soundhouse Dublin (Garageland Sessions), Kilkenny and most Cork venues such as headline slots in the Crane Lane.
The Alkove supported Christy Dignam and Joe Jewell of Aslan in 2016 at a gig raising funds for Indian children charity Flame Of Hope, and have been invited back for the next such event. The band was a special non-redheaded guest at the Annual Redhead Convention, a festival that included Mary Coughlan. The Alkove also headlined their night in Sober Lane as part of the 2015 ‘96/1 Festival’ held in Cork, where 96 bands from across the country played over one day at venues across the city, and also headlined on the main stage at the Liverpool FC Legends day in Carrigaline.
