Dali - The newest emergence from the fast cultavating alternative scene in Thomastown, Co, Kilkenny. This small town has played host to Snow Patrol, Republic of Loose, Hyrbrasil, Kopec, Delorentos, a revived John Martyn and so many more over the past two years. With that the stage has been firmly set for hometown bands to get on some the action!! Newcomers Dali have been doing just that!! With some appearances also for Garageland Gigs in Eamon Dorans and The Sugarclub late last year Dali have enjoyed workin hard in the supporting role, developing their unique blend of female lead indie rock!!
Fronted by songwriter Deirdre Doyle, back by her rhythm guitars, brother Sean on lead, Micky Cullen on Bass and Brian Dempsey on drums, the four piece have spent the winter heads down preparing to record their first EP with producer Leo Pearson at the control desk! Coup!!
Four tracks titled ‘27’ will be available for listen/download on www.myspace.com/dalimusik within the coming weeks with a lauch date to be posted also!!

Corsairs
Corsairs are a 3-piece band from Dublin and Kildare. Formed in August 2005…. Their 'Catherine Wheel' demo recorded in November 2006 picked up massive attention, spurring Corsairs on to begin work on their debut long player, which they hope will be out sometime later this year….Comparisons are aplenty, but the main thing is, WE LIKE THEM. Don't be afraid to expect big things.

Karrier

Karrier are from both Dublin and Dundalk. The band have recently finished recording their debut album "Lets look at it this way", at Salt Recording Studios in Sutton, Dublin and are currently receiving some major interest from within the various musical circles.
The guys are set to play support to Pink in June 07 at Malahide castle. Since setting up their myspace in February 07, they’ve managed to reach the top ten of Irish Indie/Rock bands and have received over 10,000 plays.
This summer will see a lot of changes within the Irish music scene and you can rest assure that Karrier are going to be a big part of it.

Colm Heaney & The Bad DJs

No stranger to The Garage Gigs, Colm Heaney & The Bad DJs have recently finished work on the brand new album ‘Ten Foot Tall’.
Before even pressing the full issue of promo copies, this album has already grabbed the attention of several A&R offices, and we’re not remotely surprised.

Travega

Travega have just returned from Vancouver and Newyork City where they
recorded their debut album with the legendary Garth
Richardson - whose work extends to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Biffy clyro, Nickelback and Rage Against The
Machine amongst many others.

Travega's recording debut came in the summer of 2005 as a 3 track E.P.
produced by singer songwriter Declan O'Rourke and recorded by Robbie Sexton of Blink. …..Following a number of sell-out
performances in Dublin’s Whelans, The Village and Crawdaddy,
Travega, now a sextet, released their debut single, "The People", in October 2006. The single entered the Irish charts at
number 15 and remained there for 6 weeks.
”……this is a very,very promising debut ……clever….. extravagant…. Impressive..” –Hot Press Magazine
The video for 'The People' is currently play-listed on Channel 6 and TG4.

Eyeslave
From the moment Eyeslave was born, everything went from strength to strength and an amazing adventure started that no one could have predicted.
American Producer BRIAN SPERBER (Staind, Moby, Feeder, 3 Doors Down) in New York, liked the music so much that he offered to Produce and Mix the album, putting them into Anderson Music in Stockholm, Sweden (home of ABBA), and then Sanctuary Studios in London for mixing..
EYESLAVEs sound is huge. A wall of guitars and hooks fill the senses, complimented by the strong vocals and melodies.
The debut single ‘Rise’ will be released at 12.00 midnight at the show, with laptops set up in The Sugar Club, to enable fans to buy it there and then.

Each show will be fully filmed and recorded by www.liveinyourlivingroom.com , to be screened online permanently.

Taking the stage for Part 2 of the biggest event on our calendar, will be Superjimenez, Kojii, Hitchcock Blondes, MYP et Jeep, Vic, The Wah Wah's...

SUPERJIMENEZ.

Taking off in April '06 with their debut single 'Helicopters' (a top 20 hit) the band haven't looked down since, landing gigs at the Oxegen, HWCH, 2fm 2moro 2our and Music Ireland Festivals in 2006. Television appearances on RTE's 'The Cafe', TG4 and music placements on new teen drama 'Aifric' and ‘The Premiership’ continue to highlight SUPERJIMENEZ' steady rise to prominence in an uber-competitive fashion industry.

Their second single 'Beau', a radio-only release in February 2007 has been A-Listed on stations around the country and Hotpress reckon that once you've heard it, you'll be "itching for the repeat button"!
And watch out for their next single ‘Faye’ due to be released this summer. It’s already the name on everybody’s lips! (www.myspace.com/superjimenezfaye)

The band is currently recording their highly anticipated album at RAK Studios, London with Adrian Bushby (Feeder, Bell-X1, Foo Fighters, Gomez).
SUPERJIMENEZ are a band on the up. Grab on to your breeches and come see for yourselves!

MYP et Jeep

Having formed in February 2005, Myp Et Jeep have spent the last two years writing songs and getting their shit together. Along the way they've trucked around Ireland and some of the UK bringing rock to the masses. During this time they became established favourites at the Garageland gigs, played in a lot of venues and took in a few festivals including the HWCH 2006.  In May/June of 2006 they recorded four tracks with friend and creative force, producer Leo Pearson. These earned radio play on Phantom and Beat Fm, amongst other stations, and were received well by all including members of the music industry. So deciding it is time for an album, the boys are in the studio as we speak recording their as yet untitled debut album.Stay up to date at www.myspace.com/mypetjeep and www.mypetjeep.bebo.com .
Most of all "enjoy myp et jeep sensibly"....

The Hitchcock Blondes:

‘An indescribable sense of violence in the performance’ is how one critic described them and it easy see why. With their up-tempo hard rock sound, dark as night lyrics and energetic on stage presence, any show from The Blondes is exciting and intense.

Formed in 2004 The Blondes decided early to concentrate on writing for the initial months of the partnership to avoid the dreaded cover band doldrums. Inspired by the heavier acts of the Seattle hay day and their subsequent reincarnations a definite and very modern sound developed surprisingly quickly and it wasn’t long before they were ready to gig. Tentative beginnings as a support act in the smaller clubs in Dublin soon led to the band staging their own full shows in bigger venues.

They are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut EP. It will be available later in the year.

For more go to www.myspace.com/thehitchcockblondesireland

Kojii

The current form of the band Kojii came together in early June 2006. Kojii on main vocals, had been living in downtown Los Angeles as a solo singer/songwriter but she was bored with people expecting melancholic sweetness when all she wanted to do was scream at the world to wake up to the political and social madness she saw. Not to mention her love of getting crowds excited and joining them in letting loose in releasing a wild side.
It took just 4 weeks of intense writing and rehearsing before people caught on to what Kojii were doing, soon finding themselves packing venues in Dublin.
Courtesy of world-renown artist Gottfried Helnwein, Kojii and engineer Frank McGing created a studio in the library of his home, Castle Gurteen de la Poer, in Tipperary, Ireland (where the wedding of Marilyn Manson & Dita von Teese was held).
In 2 days the band recorded the 8 tracks almost completely live to capture the raw energy they have become known for. Titled Kojiione, it’s currently the talking point in many offices in the land.

Vic

After a series of warm-up gigs, Vic. played their first proper gig on Valentine's Day 2006 in front of an eager crowd in Slattery's of Capel Street. Gigging continued for the next few months, taking in venues such as Eamonn Doran's and Radio City. In May, the band completed their first recording 'The Ashtown Sessions EP' which was a raw sample of their distinctive rock sound, coupled with original strings.

Vic. returned with a new enthusiasm and determination. Their first post-summer gig was played to a packed crowd in the Cavern and confirmed their status as an up and coming band on the unsigned Dublin scene.

-----ELDER------

"Elder is someone I could easily describe as a truly talented individual. His performances take you on an uncensored tour of the soul. His presence is both honest and cautious. Stunning"
Sinister Pete - Phantom FM
Singer/songwriter Carl Roche aka Elder began playing piano and experimenting with music from the early age of eleven. He has since shared the stage with such musicians as Paddy Casey, Juno Falls, Juliette Turner and Damien Dempsey. 2FM DJ Dan Hegarty, said, "There's something spiritual about Elder's songs. The debut album will be a gem - We'll just have to wait to enjoy it"

He has given a sneak preview of his new album "Nobody Knows" at celebrity haunt, Lillie's Bordello to a host of Dublin's socialites, celebrities and music industry folk. Carl stated earlier in an interview, "I'm a live musician and get my energy from the people and my surroundings. I refuse to accept anything less from my studio recordings. This album is the signature to my work."

Elder is a name that is steadily growing around the Dublin and Irish music scene. His songs immerse the grittier side of life paving the way with slapping grooves and roots overtones. His theatrical story telling has likened him to Tom Waits, and David Bowie.

-----JAMES MARK DONNELLY-----

In the true sense of everything that we stand for, here at Garageland, what we have to say about James Mark Donnelly is that We Like Him. We don't know a whole pile of stuff about him, but he played on one of our shows, and we said 'We Like Him'.

There's a recommendation for you.

-----JUSTIN MANVILLE-----

Justin Daniel-Julius Manville..... Yes that's right, the name! Bit of a mouthful! don't know what the parents were thinking, maybe they had a feeling he might become something which would require a strangely memorable title.... kind of works but its his music that lingers in your mind for weeks on end. Justin is a country boy at heart and laughs about his upbringing being one of absolute freedom in rolling hills with sheep and cows as neighbours. With not much else to do Justin was gently persuaded to take up as many interests/sports as possible, which meant he had no choice! Especially with his Father being a professional cricketer/footballer and a teacher in his younger days. Anyway Justin was given the honour of playing for Yorkshire county cricket club at youth level. He was then selected to become one of the young professionals with a view to becoming a regular first team player. This was short lived as his guitar laying dorment back in his room while he trained with the other players was more of a concern than his need to improve as a cricketer. Justin is the youngest in a large family comprising of 2 brothers, 2 sisters and 11 nieces and nephews... Most of them play an instrument of some kind or sing. Seems to be a passion deep in the loins of the ancestors of the Manville bloodline. Justin will be doing a mini tour with his niece Zoe manville this summer, and this is the highlight.....

-----SAVING J-----

Having been on the road virtually non-stop throughout Ireland during the tail end of 2006 and into 2007, SAVING J have honed their craft and have created their own unique take on a pop & rock sound thats full of tight-assed riffs and melodic choruses.

The bands songs reflect a catacomb of thoughts, feelings and emotions. With an abundance of original material in the can, SAVING J have merged their own unique sound, at one minute beautifully melodic then next hard hitting rock.
Performing live is the atmosphere in which they thrive.

...one to watch...

-----SUNDRIVE-----

“The kind of classic pop craftsmanship that is all too rare these day’s.
Go out right now and buy it” – Hotpress Ireland

Larry Gogan’s Album of the Week  5/5/2007

In 2002 Sundrive made their live debut at O2 in the Park to an estimated 100,000 people. It was the perfect start for life long friends Mick McDonnell  (Vocals/Bass), and Steve Cranley (Guitar) who formed Sundrive in 2002 around the simple principle of writing great pop songs.  Influences range from The Beatles, Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin and Ron Sexsmith to Elvis Costello.

Signed to the Irish Indie label Reekus, the band’s debut single A Day Like Today was extensively played on national radio, with John Creedon being a big fan as well as Ryan Tubridy who called the track "one of my favourite songs of all time". When a copy was picked up in Tower Records Tokyo by the head of J-Wave Radio, Japan’s largest radio network, the song began to gain momentum internationally and soon became a favourite on Power-Pop Radio Japan and on a number of stations around the world.  Recently A Day Like Today was also included on a compilation album sponsored by one of America’s cool clothes labels - Anthropologie, and was also shortlisted at a competition at the international trade fair, Midem for use in a major American film.

The album Still Here brings together 12 of their best songs showcasing the summery pop of A Day Like Today, the current single the poignant Still Here and moody tracks like Fallen Down.

Still Here is available in all good record shops, on line from the reekus web shop and digitally from all major download sites.

FROM ASHES TO EMPIRE

........ wasn't untill they had all tried their hands at further education that they discovered they couldn't be bothered with the 'real' world outside music and decided to start a band the likes of which had never been seen! ......

HAM SANDWICH, THE RADIO, ALBYNO RHINO, CHROME HORSE, ORPHAN CODE, + GREEN LIGHTS

HAM SANDWICH onstage 10.45pm

Ham Sandwich fronted by Podge McNamee and Niamh Farrell have cut their cloth as a sterling underground treasure with an almost cult like following the likes of Weezer or early Flaming Lips, a following that knows wherever Ham Sandwich goes fun and madness intrinsically follows. The name is a simple, effective decoy, just like there's a computer called Apple, a band called Ham Sandwich manages to dispense with the expected cliches of what a modern indie band should be and instead have allowed themselves the space to build a performance that is outstanding in giving people what they want to see, strange outfits, bright colours, a sexy front woman and a lunatic like front man. Their underground status and cult acclaim has seen them guesting alongside such reknown performers as Electric Six, WHITESNAKE, PERE UBU, Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, My Morning Jacket, The Bluetones, I'm from Barcelona & The BUZZCOCKS amongst others. Ham Sandwich are due to release their fourth single 'click...click...BOOM' in February following the success of singles 'Sad Songs', 'St. Christopher' and 'Words'. True DIY enthusiasts they have spurned the norms of booking themselves into a studio... to instead build their own studio in a dormitary at Headfort House/School, Kells (Their hometown) with the help of Frames producer Karl Odlum. Their hometown fondness has also seen them turn this 18th Century mansion into the location for their music video for 'St. Christopher' which includes their followers dancing along to their music in the house's expansive ballroom. Their music has garnered them a wide selection of admirers including legendary Beach Boys producer Van Dyke Parks, Bono, who vehemently advised them to change their name and Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan who requested copies of the bands music prior to his solo performance in Dublin earlier this year and invited them along to his show. For novices of the Ham Sandwich live experience here's some advice: leave your prejudice of what an indie band should be safe at home, stock up on lots of funergy and bring your dancing shoes because live...these guys are stunning.

THE RADIO onstage 10.05pm

2007 will be a busy year for the band with the release of their new album 'Charm Offensive'on August 10th. With numerous singles due for release over the coming months the band will travel their native country and also the Uk and the USA performimg some of these new tracks. Already the first single 'One of two Ways' has received alot of attention and widespread airplay. Keep your eyes peeled for their new videos for all of these new download only singles. next up is the release of 'Manmade' (on July 10th) the opening track on their sophomore album. More details will be added over the next few weeks. The launch for the new album will be held at The Sugar club on August 10th with a special live performance by the band.
The Radio are guitarist Stephen M, formerly of one of Irelands much loved indie bands Rollerskate Skinny with guitarist/producer liam mulvaney featuring vocalists C. Lee Baker and Sue Rose. The live band includes Florida Dave on bass, Hugo Byrne on drums and. and pablo the laptop.
The Radio released their debut album 'Kindness' on Reekus Records in August 2004 to huge critical acclaim. Since 2004 the band have appeared at various festivals around the world including CMJ (New York) Midem (France) eurosonic (Holland) and In The City (UK). Following sucessful shows in both London and Dublin the band have been featured on BBC radio 1 shows hosted by the musical maverick 'Alan McGee' (Creation/Poptones).
With the single 'Whatever gets You through Today' taken from their album finding its way on to the radio air waves in both Ireland and the UK aswell as the song featuring in hit USA tv series 'Grays anatomy' and new movie 'Imagine me and You' alongside 2 Meteor nominations in both 2005 and 2006 and a new EP due for release in April 2006 and an album to follow in the Autumn the future is looking bright for The Radio. Reviews: "The spine-tingling Remember Me, Remember You should be on every playlist everywhere in the world! ( RTE Guide Alan Corr)
"The most accomplished, alchemic, and original debut in year" (Tanya Sweeney Hot Press) 'a band who remind you of every pop group you have ever loved' (Ed power Irish Times)
'The Radio have produced one of the best albums of the year' (John Bereton Totally Dublin)

ALBYNO RHINO onstage 9.25pm

Take 4 Clash, Stones and Smiths obsessed teenagers, liberally sprinkle with the ramshackle genius of Pete Doherty, paste in the ska-punk musings of The Blizzards and wrap them in song titles such as ..Arcadia.. and voila!- you're left with Albyno Rhino, one of the finest raw talents for 2007" - Steve Cummins (NME Ireland)

Albyno Rhino formed in 2004. They are a 4 piece alternative band best described as Rock Indie/ska. They have played regular gigs in all the usual Dublin Venues and also in neighbouring counties. They released their debut single "Wasters in the End" to the masses in March 2007 which enjoyed extensive airplay on PhantomFM, Spin103.8FM and TodayFM. After a warm reception from the Irish media, they have since been cited as "One of the finest raw talents for 2007" and "Definitely one's to watch", by HOTPRESS and NME Ireland.

The band worked closely with Top Dollar Artist Management from late 2006 to the summer of 2007 and they have been the subject of much A+R interest for some months now. The band are currently planning another radio single release for September 07, after which they will return to the studio to record their latest material for their debut album due out early 2008. After encouraging media publicity throughout 2007, Albyno Rhino are now focusing on further development, both musically and commercially, with all 4 members determined to make 2008 'the year of the Rhino'.

CHROME HORSE onstage 11.25pm

"FIRST DEMO HITS NUMBER 1 POSITION ON PHANTOM 105.2 ROCK RADIO"

Raucous drums, thunderous bass, screaming guitars and Hammond organ set the backdrop to firebrand vocals citing lunatics, misfits and firing squads as Chrome Horse unveil their world vision.

As they rumble, twist and punch through their new sound, they explore themes as diverse as The Wall Street Crash, Waiting For Godot and The Great Flood.

The band too are a melting pot of talent, religion and nationality. Forged from diverse backgrounds in Northern Ireland and Poland, they formed in March 2006 and have already seen their first demo 'Antifreeze' hold Top Ten positions all of January on our very own Phantom 105.2fm.

Reflected in their unique sound, all influences are included from The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, Bob Dylan, Sepultura and Booker T. Many more operate in the background.

Chrome Horse have a new and explosive sound and are already gaining reputation for their ferocious live shows.

ORPHAN CODE onstage 8.45pm

OrphanCode were formed last year from the ashes of a previous quartet that had featured Rob, Neil and Jay, along with another of their friends, Gavin. After a couple of EP's and some major touring all over the US (a two year stint on both coasts) Gavin decided to stay on US soil whilst the other three came back to Ireland to re-evaluate what they wanted from their musical and creative goals. Being friends since their school days and finding that they had a wealth of creativity and songs trying to get out, they decided to write as a threesome and judge for themselves whether they were good enough to carry on. The results proved beyond doubt that they were, not only to them, but also to a very eager and supportive music-production company who paid for them to demo and ultimately record their first full-length album with Ger McDonnell taking on the role of Producer and Engineer. This record is at present being wrapped up, and we wish them every success. Garage Gig favourites.

GREEN LIGHTS onstage 8.05pm

The three-piece started to play and write new songs in their living room and became GREEN LIGHTS. They decided it was time to bring their home-made drum machines and "we don't need no bass-geetar" attitude to public audiences. Unfortunately society wasn't quite ready for their unique blend of mime and juggling (critics said they had no balls), so the decision was made to stick to playing music venues around Ireland...
terrible biog, great band, ...we know, we've seen them.

ROYSEVEN (stage time 10.15pm)

The career of Royseven was launched in their home country of Ireland in September 2006 with a debut single entitled "Older". The song charted at number 6 in its first week holding off competition from "the killers" and becoming a radio favourite on national and independent stations. It was followed shortly afterwards with the release of "The art of insincerity" an eleven track album which jumped into the charts at number 16 and earned the band a meteor award nomination and rave reviews including being billed as "one of the best Irish debut albums ever".  The band performed on each and every television show available to them in Ireland, The Late Late Show, Tubridy Tonight, The View, The Cafe and two appearances on "Other Voices" where they were voted the viewers number 1 choice at the end of the series.

The release of the bands second Irish single "I'm revived", coincided with them winning the coveted "Hope for 2007" award at the Irish Meteor Awards ceremony in February 2007 and undertaking their biggest national tour to date on home soil. Summer 2007 sees Royseven performing at Irelands largest music festival, Oxegen and supporting the Kaiser Chiefs in Dublins Marlay Park Venue. In addition, they have recently added another trophy to their cabinet in winning the "Best Band" award at the Balcony TV Annual Award show.

The next Royseven Irish single is "Crash", released in Sep 2007 and is currently being promoted through a nationwide tour.

VESTA VARRO (stage time 10.55pm)

Fresh off the NME's Hotlist for 2007, Vesta Varro's debut album 'Exit Here' was released on June 8th 2007. The first two singles entered the Irish Top 40. The album was recorded in legendary recording studios, Windmill Lane in Dublin with producer Richard Rainey (U2/Mansun) and engineer Kieran Lynch (REM/Elvis Costello). Their first single 'Blue Mirror Boy' was recorded and produced by Crowded House bass player, Nick Seymour.

Vesta Varro's voracious live performances have led to a multitude of supports with the likes of Editors, The Thrills, Hal, Sultans of Ping FC, BellX1, The Frank and Walters, Stiff Little Fingers, The Wonderstuff, Damien Dempsey, Dave Couse and The Republic Of Loose. They also appeared on the Bud Rising Festival line up, O2 Wireless Festival.

Their Hot Press award winning video for their first E release Believe has been screened on MTV2. The track, Blue Mirror Boy, also hit the No. 1 spot in Irelands first underground MP3 charts. www.cpu.ie

Vesta Varro are currently touring in support of their debut album and while also finding time to work on new songs with The Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan.

Vesta Varro are: Damien Drea (vocals), Keith Forde (guitars), Peter Forde (guitars), Rod Smith (bass), and Shane Lee (drums). Though relatively new, having formed in 2004, a number of Vesta Varro band members have been writing and performing together for a few years.

Their new single ‘Weighted Love’ is coming out on October 19th

MY PET JEEP (onstage time 8.55pm)

Having formed in February 2005, Myp Et Jeep have spent the last two years writing songs and getting their shit together. Along the way they've trucked around Ireland and some of the UK bringing rock to the masses. During this time they became established favourites at the Garageland gigs, played in a lot of venues and took in a few festivals including the HWCH 2006.  In May/June of 2006 they recorded four tracks with friend and creative force, producer Leo Pearson. These earned radio play on Phantom and Beat Fm, amongst other stations, and were received well by all including members of the music industry. So deciding it is time for an album, the boys are in the studio as we speak recording their as yet untitled debut album.
"enjoy myp et jeep sensibly"....

THE IDIOT (stage time 11.35pm)

The Idiot have been playing edgy pop music direct from the shagpile carpet burn and streetlit a-cup of urban living for the last two years. The band have taken an electronic direction in recent months, as strange fixations and bad behaviour breed among synths #38 and #39; guitars, with disco beats and glam riffs framing a solitary figure of cabaret Quixote.

We like Them.

SHIVERSAINT (onstage time 9.35pm)

....Shiversaint Is a 3 piece Rock band based in Dublin.
Made up of 3 members, Ryan Sheridan"Vocals/Guitar" ,
Conor Brannigan " Bass"and Arthur Turek "Drums"
The Band was originally formed in Glasgow and has toured extensively throughout the UK,
bringing in major underground venues to the attention of their Music.
Due to a change in Band members and Location, they have been out of the scene for a while,
But now with a new EP in the making and an array of gigs, the sounds of shiversaint will be back to the ears of Music Lovers.....

All of the above is, of course, written by the band, and therefore displays cohesively that they don't squander their talents writing band biographies.

Just as well, that's someone else's job.

You should see Shiversaint while you can still afford to!

BORN DAYS (onstage time 8.15pm)

On stage, energy and passion is everything.

Without depending on advertising or mailshots Borndays opted instead to allow things to grow by word of mouth, releasing an EP "White on White". This resulted in a number of gigs in the UK,a show at the prestigious Fringe Festival last year all the while picking up some
critical accliam from NME UK along the way........

2007 has seen the bands' reputation grow larger with the surfacing of the Miracle & Closer demo's, causing quite a stir underground amongst fans, musos, men in suits and cris crossing on radio waves........

The Autumn will see Borndays release the first single from their upcoming debut album, as yet to be titled.

PARANOID VISIONS (stage time tbc)

Paranoid Visions, live recording for “liveinyourlivingroom.com”
22nd November 2007, the Sugar Club

2007 has been a remarkably successful year for Paranoid Visions! Throughout the year the band has played headliner gigs in Ireland and the UK, signed a licensing and distribution agreement for their FOAD musick label, had great reviews for their album “40 Shades of Gangreen” both at home and abroad, been interviewed on Phantom FM and Hot Press and selling some 2000 albums in the process.

November 22nd sees the band launching their final assault for 2007 in the form of a “live in your living room” gig at the sugar club, Dublin. The live recording, in addition to the standard “liveinyourlivingroom.com” airing, will be released in conjunction with the bands next album due out before the summer in 2008. Provisionally entitled “Beware of the God”, the album will be preceded by two 7” e.p’s of classic Irish punk / new wave covers including tracks originally recorded by the Atrix, Chant Chant Chant and DC Nein.

Initial reaction to the album is that it is the bands best work to date by far.

England’s “Big Cheese” magazine described the band as “creating a biting record that doesn’t so much keep up with the young guns as drag them down and bite their legs. Irish punk at its most caustic and compelling”

Hot Press magazine described the album as being “Highly melodic, as well as being deeply, deeply raucous…a blistering collection of anti establishment polemic”

The Evening Herald said “bloody typical, they wait 25 years to make a blockbuster album…never have the band sounded so convincing”

Hip Indie radio station, Phantom FM described the band as being legends!

IMAGINE 2
THE SUGAR CLUB
THURSDAY 20TH NOVEMBER
7.45PM
12.00 EURO

Top bands team up to raise awareness of mental illness

As a follow up to last years' immensely successful 'Imagine' show, cutting edge music will once again rock Dublin's Sugar Club, to help raise awareness of mental illness.

Imagine 2 will take place on Thursday, 20th November 2008. All proceeds from the event will go to the Basin Club, which is a peer driven resource centre in Dublin's North Inner City for people with self-experience of mental illness.

Last years line-up included The Script, a little known act from Dublin, just months before they became a huge International act, and the event organisers, Garageland, have promised to use their insight into what's hot and what's not, with some very special surprises for this year's show.

This year sees performances from Aortal / Epoch Rising / Gobi / Lou Van Laake Quartet and very special guests!

Commenting on the event, Cillian Russell, Manager of the Basin Club said "it is wonderful to see such a positive event organised to help raise people's awareness of mental illness. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem as some point in our lives. It will affect each of us either through a family member, friend or personally. Mental illness should be talked about as an everyday thing, and by organising such an event, we hope that people will be inspired to do so."

According to Clara Hamill, organiser of the event, "I'm proud to be working with Garageland in raising awareness about mental illness in Ireland. Having spoken to the members from the Basin club after the Imagine event last year – I knew exactly how important it was to them, to have a voice that communicated to other young people in Ireland that there is help and you are not alone. Music is a way to bring people together, no matter who you are or what age you are. Music is a positive form of expression."

Tickets are €12 and can be purchased at the door. The Sugar Club is located at 8 Lower Lesson Street, Dublin 2. This is sure to be a brilliant gig – with the added benefit of being for a worthy cause – so get yourself down to the Sugar Club on 20th November!

For further details, please contact the Basin Club at 01 860 1610.

ENDS

IMAGINE 2: Benefit date for The Basin Club. Last year was the first of these special nights, where we 'sneak on' somebody we reckon is worth watching out for for next year.

Last years tip was The Script. Rumour has it that Paddy Power is opening up a book on Garageland's predictions!

The purpose of 'IMAGINE' is to raise awareness about mental health issues in Ireland. All proceeds from this show will go towards the social fund in The Basin Club, which is a Drop-In centre for people suffering from mental illness.

SPECIAL PUNK NIGHT featuring Paranoid Visions and guests Mexican Dog Circus* Mongohorn* Dubtones

In The First Ever Absolute Punk Rock Special Garage Gig, Garageland (named, by the way, after the Clash song of the same title) proudly brings this dynamite line-up to The Village.

Paranoid Visions are an institution in themselves, having burnt up the 80's and 90's, playing alongside the Sex Pistols, Stranglers, all the way through to Blood Or Whiskey, and festivals in the UK throughout 2006, taking no prisoners anywhere along the way.

On the night also are the legendary Dubtones, themselves carving a trench with their name on it. Also are the newly reformed Mexican Dog Circus (first date in 3 years), and Mongohorn..... you cannot miss Mongohorn! Words don't do them justice, so we're not going to try.
